ἀποτυμπανίζειν [
apotympanizein], according to the abridged Liddell-Scott-Jones lexicon, means "to cudgel to death." You have to appreciate any language that has a single word for such an action and which thoughtfully and in advance reduces the linguistic effort needed to describe it.

I love Greek too, but you have to love English too. We have words like "defenestration." It still kills me that we have a word to describe the one act of throwing something out a window. :-)
